RespirTech InCourage (now Philips)
High-frequency chest wall oscillation device for patients chronic respiratory conditions.
Respirtech had three very specific things they wanted to fix when they came to Psoup - they wanted to reduce the cost of the housing, improve the aesthetics of the unit, and fix the ergonomics of the carrying handle. As we dug into the industrial design phase, it became clear that there were other opportunities for improvement, such as making the unit quieter, improving service access, and improving the hose connector design for ease of use. We pressed them to talk to users, and it became clear that the noise was a big issue. Working closely with the Respirtech engineering and marketing teams, Psoup designers and engineers solved these problems - like reducing system noise by 30% - all while saving Respirtech $300 per unit of housing cost and significantly improving the aesthetics of the system.
